Wood Hudson has grown over the years and one of our many accomplishments included the construction of the Biospecimen Repository Center in 2012. The Repository is a collection of nearly 2 million archived tissue specimens representing over 65,000 local cancer patients of all ages. Every major form of cancer is represented within this collection. The entire expansion was paid by private donations, foundations, civic organizations and businesses./p>
The Biospecimen Repository Center is a unique resource that is central to our ability to conduct research that validates new targets for cancer therapy as well as develops new approaches to cancer diagnosis and prognosis. Wood Hudson is the only member of the Association of Independent Research Institutes (AIRI) in Kentucky. Only 12 independent research institutes in the U.S. are devoted to cancer research. While we collaborate with hospitals and universities, we are independent, no one benefits financially from our discoveries.
